Ganz sicher gibt es von dieser Frau schmeichelhaftere Bilder als dieses hier zu finden, wohl keines davon vermag aber so gut wiederzugeben, mit wem wir es zu tun haben. Josienne Clarke, die gerade die Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums "In All Weather" via Rough Trade bekanntgegeben hat, ist nicht die Art von glattgebügeltem Möchtegernsternchen, sie scheut sich ihrer Widersprüche und Kanten nicht und hat deshalb zum Titel des Albums im Speziellen und dem Leben im Allgemeinen folgende Meinung: “Learning to sail in all weather, the line from which the album title comes, is what we are all trying to do. To right ourselves when things feel turbulent and uncertain. How to correct your course and stay true to the things you believe and need and let all the rest go”, so erzählt sie dem Netzportal CLASH, und weiter: “These are not love songs, these are life songs; life lines to save me from sinking. Each one a hard-won lesson in how not to do things next time. It’s a manifesto of how to leave and how to change.” Die junge Schottin hat in ihrer noch recht kurzen Karriere schon reichlich Lob eingefahren, das American Songwriter Magazine kührte sie 2016 zu Songwriterin des Jahres, in Cerys Matthews (Catatonia, jetzt auch BBC) hat sie eine leidenschaftliche Fürsprecherin gefunden und hört man sich den ersten Song von der neuen Platte "If I Didn't Mind" an, dann weiß man auch, dass dies alles nicht ohne Grund passiert. Einem besorgten Fan, der das obige Foto mit dem Hinweis kommentierte, sie sähe darauf ziemlich gestresst aus, antwortete Clarke im Übrigen recht forsch: "Music is stressful, you put parts of yourself in to the public domain for people to judge and comment on. I'm not afraid of wearing some of that on the outside."
